About SwimNOVA
The SwimNOVA Difference
More Than Learn-to-Swim
SwimNOVA is more than a learn-to-swim program. Our lessons are designed as a progressive pathway that develops strong swimming skills from a swimmer’s first experiences in the water through the fundamentals of competitive swimming. Rather than simply teaching swimmers to move from one end of the pool to the other, our instructors focus on proper body position, technique, coordination, and stroke development at every level.
Swimmer Safety
Swimmer safety is a fundamental part of the SwimNOVA experience. Along with a lifeguard who watches the whole program, every Level 1 and Level 2 class has a dedicated lifeguard in addition to the instructor, providing an additional layer of supervision while instructors focus on teaching. Parents or guardians are also required to remain in the facility throughout the lesson. Together, these layers of supervision create a closely monitored learning environment where swimmers can build skills and confidence.
Skill Based Progression
Our five-level curriculum is skill-based, meaning swimmers advance when they consistently demonstrate the skills required for the next level—not simply because they have completed a certain number of lessons or reached a particular age. As swimmers progress, they move from foundational water skills to freestyle and backstroke, then to butterfly and breaststroke, as well as starts and turns. By the completion of our lessons program, swimmers should be able to perform all four competitive strokes legally.
A Pathway to What’s Next
Because SwimNOVA is part of a competitive swim organization, our lessons program provides a natural pathway for swimmers who choose to continue into Stroke School and competitive swimming. Swimmers who want to continue developing their skills have the opportunity to build on the foundation they established through SwimNOVA lessons and progress into the next stage of their swimming journey.
Skills for a Lifetime
We believe the strongest swimmers are skilled swimmers—built through consistent instruction, sound technique, and positive experiences in the water. As swimmers develop greater skill, confidence, and independence, they become better equipped to navigate the water safely, efficiently and confidently. Our goal is to give every swimmer the skills they can carry for a lifetime, whether they go on to compete, swim recreationally, or simply enjoy being comfortable and confident in the water.
