Community Impact
NOVA of Virginia Aquatics is committed to developing excellence in swimmers of all ages and abilities while providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every individual can thrive. Through a growing partnership with Henrico County Public Schools, NOVA now provides water safety and swim instruction to approximately 1,800 second-grade students annually, helping advance the county’s goal of ensuring every child learns this lifesaving skill. What began as a program serving 500 students in 2021 has expanded dramatically, with lessons provided at no cost to families. By teaching children to swim, NOVA is helping reduce drowning risk, increase confidence, and create opportunities for lifelong participation in aquatic activities.
NOVA has developed strong partnerships with organizations across the Richmond region to broaden its community impact. These collaborations include Henrico County Public Schools, Sportable Adaptive Sports, the Central Virginia Autism Society, the Police Athletic League, The Steward School LEAP Program, Reel Em In, Special Olympics, Henrico County Public Schools Athletics, and numerous community organizations. Together, these partnerships provide adaptive aquatics, water safety education, learn-to-swim opportunities, competitive swimming experiences, and recreational programming for thousands of participants each year.
As one of the nation’s premier swim clubs and a leading community aquatics organization, NOVA also generates significant economic and social impact through the hosting of more than 36 swim meets and events annually. These events attract thousands of athletes and spectators to Henrico County while generating revenue that is reinvested into youth programming, outreach initiatives, scholarships, and community partnerships. Support from foundations, corporate sponsors, and community donors enables NOVA to continue expanding access to aquatics and creating opportunities for swimmers of all backgrounds to learn, compete, and succeed.
